Story

Since 2011 I have been a volunteer at The GAP Youth Club, supporting LGBTQ+ young people and helping to provide a youth service they feel welcome and free to be themselves in. As many of you may know, this work is something I am incredibly passionate about and I continue to advocate and campaign for the rights of LGBTQ+ young people.

5 years later I am still working at The GAP Youth Club, now run by Free2B Alliance, a Community Interest Company, who are now developing a range of services to support LGBTQ+ young people and their families. As a Community Interest Company, Free2B Alliance rely on fundraising to run its services.

Keen to make a difference, I will be running a 6 mile run, 1 mile for each year The GAP has been open, to fundraise for Free2b Alliance. To make this even more special, Free2b have a current offer of Match Funding anything fundraised up to £5000. This offer runs out at the end of October so to make the most of this, I will be running the Richmond Riverside 10km Run on Saturday 22nd October.

So please, donate anything you can, the work that Free2b Alliance do makes a huge different to LGBTQ+ young people and their families. The more we fundraise the more Free2b can develop its services and offer more support to more young people!

About the good cause

Free2B Alliance Free2B Alliance

Free2B Alliance is a London based Not-for-Profit organisation, supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender community, and those questioning or with alternative identities - LGBTQ+.
We provide group and 1:1 support including:

  • The Gap youth club for LGBTQ+ young people
  • Proud Parents of LGBTQ+ children
  • Free2talk mentoring support
We aim to provide a safe, social space where members can be themselves without fear of discrimination. We provide advice and guidance as well as workshops based on the groups' interests and needs. Past activities have included: guest speakers and LGBT role models such as LGBT Navy personnel, youth led sessions on gender and coming out, art therapy, projects including a recent film project exploring the concept of 'identity,' day trips and residentials.

We also offer awareness training to schools, colleges & employers: Our approach offers simple & practical changes with minimum or zero cost, to start the process of becoming a more inclusive environment.
