Pride Punx and Red Rash Inn Presents

Madre Goose.

It's queer, it's punk, it's drag. it's alternative, it's DIY, it's for ALL

Pride Punx, a community arts organisation, have teamed up with immersive theatre company Red Rash Inn to put together the digital Panto Madre Goose this year to raise money for LGBTIQ+ homelessness charity The Outside Project.

An adaptation of the 'Hamlet of pantos' Mother Goose with punks, activists, and a queer community rallying against gentrification and materialism. With all the goodies, baddies, mad costumes, silly characters and jokes you’d expect from a panto, just with some punk songs and without the problematic transphobia and casual racism usually present in traditional panto.

It’s an alternative winter theatre experience for everyone, especially families that feel excluded or marginalized by the cross-dressing punch lines often present in these shows. We aim to create a production, accessible to all during the Covid-19 pandemic, that trans, queer and non-binary families can feel safe, represented and respected in participating in, as well as families from all backgrounds that want to see equal and diverse representation in the culture they experience with their dependents.

About the good cause

The Outside Project The Outside Project

The UK’s first LGBTIQ+ Community Shelter & Centre. A grassroots movement led by LGBTIQ+ ex-homeless, homelessness professionals & activists.

In winter 2017 we opened the UK’s first LGBTIQ+ Shelter. In Spring 2019 we opened our Community Centre in Central London, just a stones throw from the Lesbian & Gay Centre of the 80’s. Over 7000sqft of open, office & residential space, this unique & innovative project is home to our shelter & the support, creative & activist groups we work alongside.

‘During the 50th anniversary year of the Stonewall Riots it is fitting to flip the narrative, centring our homeless siblings & those who feel left outside of mainstream & LGBTIQ+ spaces. The centre and shelter has made an immeasurable difference to our guests who will always be loudly & proudly at the centre of this project. We’re grateful for the support from the Mayor of London & our LGBTIQ+ community & allies across the country. We can’t thank you enough for standing beside us.’
 Carla Ecola, Founder & Director.
