UPDATE: The men have now been moved on and new people have taken their place. We are now using this money to help support men, women and children seeking asylum who are now being housed in hotels in Brighton & Hove or surrounding local areas.

The Home Office is using hotels across the UK to house people seeking asylum, they can be there for weeks, months or a year. When people are in hotels they are usually given £8 a week for 'expenses' and have no right to work. This makes it very difficult for them to buy all the things they need to live comfortably and with dignity, especially as lots of people arrive in the UK with nothing. Whilst so many of us open our arms to people seeking sanctuary here, our government has other ideas.

We are currently supporting 64 men seeking asylum who are being housed in a hotel in Brighton and Hove and have no financial support from the UK government at all. They are recent arrivals to the UK and are desperately in need of clothes, shoes, phones, phones chargers, hair cuts, medicine etc. We are asking you to help us support these men by donating whatever you can or you can donate items (listed below).

About the good cause

Care4Calais Care4Calais

Care4Calais is a volunteer-run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, Northern France, and Belgium. We believe in a fair and tolerant British society and advocate for a welcoming and inclusive attitude towards refugees. Operating year round from Calais, our focus is to provide warm clothing, bedding, food and medical assistance to people in desperate need. We also provide social support and interaction, including language lessons and sports and music workshops. We are on the ground with the refugees every single day and are respectful of their common humanity and responsive to their needs.
