Story

We are taking part in Leukaemia & Lymphoma research sponsored walk which is called the "Forget me not" walk - in memory of all those who have lost their lives to a blood cancer.

Alex Hopwood lost her life to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in December 2014, this walk happens to be on Alex's Birthday September 13th and so her family and friends have decided this is a great way for anyone wanting to honour and remember her on her special day.

The walk is in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research are the UK blood cancer charity. Every year they stop more people dying of blood cancer and their researchers are even working to stop people developing blood cancer in the first place.

The walk starts at 11.00am on sunday 13th September 2015, from the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and Country Park,
Sutton Cheney, Leicestershire. CV13 0AD.

It is 5K walk so sturdy waterproof footwear is recommended. Dogs are welcome but must be under control on a lead please.

If you would like to join us and take part in the walk please donate £10.00 (this is a minimum requirement to be raised per person) and email jacky@agifttolift.com who will book your place on the walk and provide further details.

If you do not want to take part in the walk but would like to sponsor someone that is, Help beat blood cancer, or just simply remember Alex Hopwood, then please make a donation, this would be kindly appreciated.

About the good cause

A Gift To Lift A Gift To Lift

A Gift To Lift was set up by Alex Hopwood in 2014. Alex set up the charity whilst going through harsh treatment for Leukaemia. She started by creating Jewellery and headbands that could be sold as gifts to help provide other patients with a little lift. Also the money raised from the sales of these handmade products went towards giving wishes to blood cancer patients.

Alex received chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and two bone marrow transplants, but Alex unfortunately lost her battle on December 15th 2014. Alex assigned close friends and family to carry out the roles of trustees of the charity, and so today A Gift To Lift continues to raise money to support blood cancer patients, donate towards blood cancer research, and to work towards Alex's dream of buying a holiday home in Norfolk for blood cancer patients to spend quality time with their loved ones.

We welcome and appreciate all of your support no matter how big or small.
