Between the Oxford Kite committee, we plan to cycle 4,284 miles which is the distance from Oxford to Nairobi! We plan to complete this challenge in 5/6 weeks and can't wait for you to join us on our journey. We are fundraising for our mentorship scheme that launched in December aiming to reduce school drop outs and develop entrepreneurial skills in Nairobi. Thank you for any donations!

Kite Oxford-Nairobi is a student led initiative seeking to maximize the
agency and impact of students in development. Partnering with a student
committee in Nairobi, we draw on research from Oxford and universities
in Nairobi to develop and implement innovative projects, tackling
poverty-related challenges that have been identified by Kenyan
communities as being important to them. The aim is to pilot the projects
at a smaller scale, show the concept works, and then handover the
project concept to larger organisations who can scale their impact.
To date, we have two projects. The first is a mentorship scheme, where
we recruit and train university students to act as careers counsellors
and role models for secondary school students in areas of Nairobi where
school drop out rates are high. The second is a social enterprise model,
aiming to tackle the Kenyan Jigger Flea epidemic through access to
affordable shoes and education.
