SPEAR has been transforming people's lives for over 30 years. In 1987, after
the tragic deaths of two rough sleepers on the banks of the River Thames
at Richmond, the local community came together to open a night shelter. Two years later a hostel, still in operation today, was set up in Richmond.
Since then, SPEAR has transformed as a charity, offering a range of
accommodation options and support services to people experiencing
homelessness across five South West London boroughs: Richmond, Merton,
Kingston, Sutton and Wandsworth.
